Increasing sales…
This is all great but how do I increase my affiliate sales and get people to come back or refer others to my site? We've already discussed some ways in previous sections on how you can increase traffic. Once your visitors arrive though that's another thing. You need to find ways of keeping them interested so they'll come back again and again - in fact, they need to be so interested that they'll tell all their friends how wonderful it is! Two links, bookmark this page and send this page to a friend, easy!
Make your site as attractive and professional looking as you possibly can. The We Recommend... page has some great links to web templates and Royalty Free image sites.
That's not all though, people like to actually learn something when they go to a site, or at the very least be amused in some way. Have jokes and stories about your products, entertain and educate your visitors! For example, if you have a site that caters to eastern cuisines, you might put up a new recipe every week to get people to come back and visit.
Don't overload your customers with advertisements. Pop-up advertisements are so irritating, some users actually think they're being attacked by a hacker or virus and will immediately shut their computer down! It's so frustrating to have some pushy background program take over your computer and fire up additional browser windows! So if you want to use pop-up ads, do so with utmost care!
One of the best ways to get people to come back is to have a newsletter containing your offers and specials or new products that you might have just come in. Offering an email newsletter is great. People like to read short blurbs on a topic that interests them. Don't overwhelm them though, keep it light and fun or people will walk away and never come back.
Getting the word out!
You can get the word out in so many ways. Plaster your web address on your business cards, your stationery, signs, brochures, and even your car! People can recall a web address long before they remember a phone number. Keep your web address short or at the very least easy to recall.
Get yourself listed in the major search engines as we've discussed, and link to other like minded sites. Don’t be shy, this is your passion, your baby, talk, yak, verbalise, and chat up the site!
